ALAN WALDRON

For Council

Alan Waldron is a 20 year resident of Penn Hills. He’s currently the Vice-President of the Penn Hills Community Development Corporation (PHCDC) and a small business owner of a custom software development agency. Alan has a 25-year career developing websites and mobile applications with an emphasis on community collaboration systems. He’s also spent 6 years in the marketing industry between two downtown agencies.

As a council member, Alan plans to use his expertise in digital marketing and communications to rehabilitate the image of Penn Hills both inside and outside of our borders.

Alan would like to lead a marketing campaign to show the greater Pittsburgh region that Penn Hills is not just what they see on the news, but a community with many beautiful, unique and diverse neighborhoods full of affordable homes where the people are hard-working, and neighbors are friendly and helpful.

Within Penn Hills, he wants to restore residents’ faith in their government by making it more transparent, approachable, and open to community input. Instead of relying on email which often becomes a black hole for resident concerns, he’d like to implement an online community collaboration system that allows residents to submit help requests, code violations, and share and collaborate on ideas. Such a system will engage residents to become more active and connected to government and provide much needed transparency and accountability of their concerns.

Finally, Alan would like to increase relations with the school district. The municipality and school district could try to collaborate to set goals and objectives that help retain residents with school-aged children.

“My mission is to rehabilitate the reputation of Penn Hills.”

“I grew up in a working family — my mother owned a beauty salon and cut hair for 50 years, while my father was a machinist in the manufacturing industry. Armed with my mom's entrepreneurship and my dad's problem-solving, I became a small business owner of my own as a website and software developer.”

“Throughout my career, I've specialized in digital community management, meaning I help groups of people use technology to communicate and work together more effectively. As a member of council, I intend to use this experience to not only make our government more approachable and easier to work with, but also improve transparency and accountability.”
